AbundanceThe Natural State of Affairs in the Universeby George Sranko We all want a feeling of abundance in our lives. I know I do. All my friends and neighbors do. There's a universality to our quest for this elusive state. What is abundance? Is it a surplus, a feeling of having more than enough? Is it an overflowing of emotion, such as an abundance of the heart? These are components of abundance, but there's much, much more. I personally agreed with Arnold Patent, author and lecturer, when he states, "Abundance is the natural state of affairs in the universe." Put more simply, I believe abundance is all there is; the universe and abundance are synonymous in my book. Anything other than a sense of abundance in our lives is an illusion. How can this be? How can we be living in total abundance and often feel much less than abundant? Perhaps we are looking in the wrong places. We usually express abundance in teens of the numbers of dollars we have socked away in our Retirement Savings Plans, the amount of equity we have in our homes, or the size of our stock portfolios. Many of us work extremely hard to achieve these goals. We put in long hours, we sacrifice time with our family, sometimes we sacrifice our health and make ourselves sick in the process. We often put up with stressful work situations because we've been taught that this is the only road to success, and money, and the freedom to do what we really want to do. Is this true? Is this how it is supposed to work? I've asked myself over and over again for a few years now. My own answer keeps coming back. No, life is not meant to be an effort, it isn't meant to be a constant battle for more chips on the game board, more goodies to stash in my pile, more possessions to protect from the greedy hands of others. Well, not literally but you catch the gist of it. Fine answer I thought, but impractical as hell. Yet the answer wouldn't let go of me; it kept tugging at me, the incessant urging of a young child with something important to say. Life does not have to be an effort. The sole objective of life is not to merely collect as many goodies as I can before I die. If life is about more than simply amassing an incredible bag of goodies, what AM I doing here'? I believe there's some purpose in all this, in my life; what is it? These questions demand answering. I believe each and everyone of us senses these same questions. The old standard, "What am I doing here?", clichéd as it is, cannot be brushed aside. We all have to deal with these questions at some time or other in our lives. Why now? Why me? Why can't I be an ordinary guy satisfied with a regular job, a nice house with a two-car garage, a satellite dish in the back yard, a two year old BMW, 1:7 kids, and a kale dog? Why am I the guy typing away at a computer writing articles, or talking about abundance and universal energy? Well, I know the answer; it's because this is what I love to do. I love to creatively express myself and my ideas. I feel I'm in tune with my purpose when I express these thoughts. If we make our lives too busy, if we don't create the time to find a sense of purpose, we become lost in the hectic effort and stress of our daily lives. We are no longer human being, we become human doings; doing this and doing that. Abundance in your life begins with a vision of what it is you want to create. Abundance flows with your ability to manifest your own unique vision or purpose. Our minds provide us with the ability to focus energy in the direction of our purpose. Quantum physics has shown us that matter and energy are one and the same, like ice and water. Matter can be converted into energy and vice versa. You and I each have the ability to convert thought energy into matter. Consider the house you live in. It began as a thought, an idea in someone's mind; perhaps you're own. The houses we live in, the furniture we sit on, the cars we drive all began as the single spark of an idea in someone's mind. Your mind is a focusing mechanism; thought energy radiates from you at a certain frequency, like magnetic waves, attracting to you the materials you require to manifest your thoughts. What you think about becomes your reality. What you focus on expands. This is the secret to tapping into the infinite supply of energy available to you right now. Vision and AbundanceThe first step in creating what you want is an idea or vision. A vision of what you want to create isn't necessarily something material: it can also be a more intimate relationship, a close network of friends, a society, a new job, or position. The second step is commitment. Once you become committed to an idea the process of transformation and creation begins immediately. You may not perceive any change but the transformalion has begun. This is where faith and trust step in. If you have faith in your ability lo create you will create whatever you envision. You will not be turned from your purpose just because it doesn't appear quickly enough, or exactly in the form you were waiting for. With the act of creation comes abundance. As we allow the energy of the universe to flow through us and become expressed by us, we feel the tremendous power of infinite abundance. Each and every one of us has an unlimited number of valuable ideas. Make it your purpose to express these ideas by creating your own unique vision. Abundance will only flow towards your vision in accordance with universal laws. A person can make a very large amount of money and still not feel abundant. This is because abundance results from aligning your purpose with universal purpose. The primary motivating factor in the universe, is, very simply, love. Anything created for the purpose of creating discord, inflicting hurt, or strictly for the purpose of making money will! not bring with it a sense of abundance. No matter how much money you make, no matter what the numbers look like, you will never feel a sense of abundance and fulfillment if the vision you arc intent on creating does not come from your heart. Only if your vision is created as an expression of your love for the universe will you feel abundance flow into your life. Four Practical StepsWhat practical steps can you and I take to create abundance in our lives? · First: don't ask for what you can have, ask for what you can create. We can clarify our creative visions (or how we want to contribute) by listening to our hearts If you find you have no sense of purpose, make this your purpose; to clarify your individual vision. · Second: Commit to following your purpose and allowing universal energy to support you in that direction. Have faith in yourself and your ability to create. · Third: Contribute to the abundance and happiness of others around you, with no strings attached, and you will automatically be contributing to your own abundance and happiness. · Fourth: Focus on the abundance already evident in your life and it will increase as you become more in tune with the forces that surround us all. * * * © 1999 George Sranko First published in Canadian MoneySaver magazine (National
